OLY-2004-HOLOGRAM COINS-1
The first Olympic coins in the world to feature colour holograms are displayed in a sheoak box at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, 11 May 2004, to celebrate the Athens Olympic Games, which starts in less than 100 days. With a low mintage of only 2500, the silver $5 (L), the tri-metal $50 (C) and the aluminium bronze $5 (R) are priced at USD 420 per set. Previous Australian hologram coins, with slightly higher mintages, have risen in price by up to 900 percent. AFP PHOTO/Torsten BLACKWOOD
