OLY-2004-HOLOGRAM COINS-2
Numismatist Felicity Woodhams displays the first Olympic coin in the world to feature a colour hologram, a gold-silver-bronze $50 coin, at the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, 11 May 2004, released to celebrate the Athens Olympic Games, which starts in less than 100 days. With a low mintage of only 2500, the tri-metal $50 (shown) and the accompanying silver $5 and aluminium bronze $5 are priced at USD 420 per set. Previous Australian hologram coins, with slightly higher mintages, have risen in price by up to 900 percent. AFP PHOTO/Torsten BLACKWOOD
