German Minister for Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture and new head of the Christian Social Union (CSU) Horst Seehofer gestures after a meeting with his party's parliamentary group on October 1, 2008 in Munich. Bavaria's state premier Guenther Beckstein has quit after his conservative party's disastrous result in weekend state elections, and Seehofer could replace him as state premier.
