CORRECTING POSITION OF IRAQI OFFICIAL
Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmud al-Mashhadani (L) meets with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani in Tehran on October 7, 2008. Mashhadani, a Sunni Arab, arrived in the Iranian capital earlier today, 24 hours after his plane was refused permission to land in Tehran, state television reported. A spokesman for the Iranian parliament, Mohsen Kouhkan, said Mashhadani's aircraft had been turned away on Monday for technical reasons rather than any objections to the visit to Shiite-dominated Iran.
