FASHION-CHILE-MUSEUM-WORLD WARS
TO GO WITH AFP STORY in Spanish by Paulina Abramovich
Picture of the housecoat worn by Marlene Dietrich during the tour of the Ardennes front on December 1944, and which she used to promote the film Golden Earrings by Michell Leisen in 1947, taken at the Museum of Fashion in Santiago on October 8, 2008. The "War and Seduction" exhibition, that shows the impact of the two great wars in fashion, was unveiled by "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood. Elongated suits, sober and somewhat tight were fashionable during the First World War of last century (1914-18), when women privileged comfort to the flirtation, while the bound economic austerity that triggered the Second World War marked trend in the mid-forties.
