JORDAN-PETRA-ARTS-MUSIC-CHARITY-PAVAROTTI
Major artists from the worlds of classical and popular music attend a charity concert in honour of the late Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti, at the archaeological site of Petra in Jordan on October 12, 2008. A large crowd of international celebrities including Princess Haya Bint al-Hussein of Jordan, Pavarotti's second wife Nicoletta and British musician Sting gathered at the historical site to pay tribute to the artist. The event, which also coincides with Pavarotti’s birthday, is a memorial charity concert that will raise money for projects in Afghanistan by UNHCR and the UN World Food Programme.AFP PHOTO/AWAD AWAD
