US President George W. Bush makes remarks to defend his response to the global financial crisis with members of his Cabinet including Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson(R) on October 15, 2008 at the White House in Washington, DC. "We have taken extraordinary measures, because these are extraordinary circumstances," Bush said, who defended his plan to inject billions of dollars into banks would not unduly increase the US government's role in the economy.
