NIGERIA-UNREST-CHURCH
Christian displaced worshippers take refuge at Love Crusade Chapel 14 May 2004 in Sabon Gari district in Kano, Nigeria. Dorothy Aniche, one of the refugee worshippers who has been sleeping in the church for the past four days has pleaded with the authorities to come to their rescue. "We are praying for peace, too". A combine team of police and the Nigerian army have taken up positions at strategic locations as tension mounts over the security of non indigenes in Kano following a three-day violent attack of Christians by Muslims protesting recent killings of fellow Muslims in Yelwa, Plateau State. On May 2 an ethnic militia from the mainly Christian Tarok people attacked the mainly-Muslim market town of Yelwa. AFP PHOTO PIUS UTOMI EKPEI
