UGANDA-UN-RDC-UNREST-MUSEVENI
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni (R) meets with Great Lakes Region Secretary General ambasador Liberata Mulamula (L), and United Nations Peace Envoys to the Democratic Republic of Congo conflict former presidents Benjamin Mkapa from Tanzania (2L) and Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria on November 19, 2008 at the State House in Kampala. The violence in DRC, which was devastated by a five-year civil war at the turn of the decade, has caused yet more suffering for the local population. It has forced thousands of people to flee to neighbouring countries with the UN's refugee agency reporting that 2,000 refugees had crossed the border into Uganda on Tuesday alone.
