ASP World Number 4 Joel Parkinson of Australia wipes out in during the O'Neill World Cup Surfing at Sunset Beach on Oahu's North Shore on December 4, 2008. Parkinson who posted one of the day's highest wave scores a 9.93 (out of a possible 10.00) during the Quarterfinals, was defeated by Tom Whittaker (Aus) and Jordy Smith (Zaf) in the Semifinals finishing in equal fifth place and earning.
