NIGERIA-UNREST-EMERGENCY
Security operatives stand 19 May, 2004 at the entrance to the Plateau State House of Assembly closed down as a result of the state of emergency declared by President Olusegun Obasanjo. There were mixed reactions in Jos, capital of Plateau State as government workers kept away from their offices following the suspension of the governor, Joshua Dariye by President Obasanjo for his inability to check the lingering ethnic and religious violence in the state.
