A picture taken on December 3, 2008 and released by the US Naval Forces Central Command shows a SH-60B from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 42 from the guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72 in background) lifting pallets off of the fantail of the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Laramie (T-AO 203) while conducting a vertical replenishment with the Military Sealift Command fleet ocean tug USNS Catawba (T-ATF 168) off the Coast of Somalia in the Indian Ocean. Catawba is deployed in support of maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility. The European Union agreed on December 8, 2008 rules of engagement allowing its newly-deployed warships the right to use force to combat piracy off Somalia, foreign policy chief Javier Solana said.
