Elena Bonner of Russia, the widow of Andrei Sakharov, speaks on December 17, 2008 during the awards ceremony of the 2008 Sakharov Prize 2008 at the European Parliament in the northeastern French city of Strasbourg. The prize was awarded in absentia to jailed Chinese dissident Hu Jia, whose nomination deeply angered Beijing.
