NIGERIA-UNREST-EMERGENCY
Forty-year-old farmer Monday Longshak removes 21 May 2004 a burnt box from his mud house burnt by rampaging Hausa Fulani herdsman at Sabon Gida in Quanpan district of Plateau State. Despite the state of emergency imposed by President Olusegun Obasanjo culminating in the sacking of governor Jushua Dariye to check the lingering ethnic and religious violence in crisis ridden Plateau State, north central Nigeria, fighting broke out again Tuesday 18, between Christians and Muslims in Sabon Gida, Bakin Ciyawa and neighbouring towns in the Quanpan district leaving dozens of lives dead, property and houses burnt.
