BELGIUM-EU-CZECH-ART-ITALY
A closeup of an installation shows a representation of Italy in a suggestive manner, part of the Entropa exhibition, on January 16, 2009 in the atrium of the European Council headquarters in Brussels. Czech sculptor David Cerny admitted his sculpture mocking the 27 EU nations was created by a small group of Czechs, not by 27 European artists. The artwork is a symbolic map of Europe depicting stereotypes attributed to the individual member countries, such as Romania with Dracula's castle or Denmark with Lego cubes evoking the Prophet Mohammed's caricature that caused uproar in the Muslim world and Italy transformed into a giant football pitch with players holding strategically-placed footballs.
