US-PARALYSIS-RESEARCH

Wendy Crawford (L) and Steve Vasilas sit near diagrams showing how a pioneering paralysis research study works during a press conference at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis of the University of Miami School of Medicine 24 May 2004 in Miami, Florida. The study shows significant improvement in the walking of spinal cord injured rats. The results demonstrate that the injured animals improved to 70 percent of normal walking function. The never before tested combination therapy was designed by Damien D. Pearse, PH.D. and Mary Bartlett Bunge, Ph.D. with the hope of helping damaged neurons overcome inhibitory signals after injury.
