IRAQ-VOTE-RESULTS

Voter turnout in Iraq's provincial election was 51 percent, lower than the 55.7 percent seen in the 2005 ballot, the Independent High Electoral Commission said. The party list of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is leading in the majority Shiite Muslim areas of the country following the provincial elections which was marked by a greater involvement of Sunni Muslims according to results issued by the AFP along with the local election committees.
