IRAQ-VOTE-POLITICS
A worker removes an advert calling on Iraqis to vote in the provincial elections two days after the nation went to the polls in central Baghdad on February 2, 2009. Early indications in Iraq's provincial elections show disaffected voters have censured incumbent politicians for failing to deliver basic services -- water, electricity and employment. Slightly more than half of Iraq's 15 million voters turned out for provincial polls 31 January, and preliminary results show current leaders will be unseated in favour of fresh faces, a major shift in the nation's political landscape.
