GERMANY-EU-IT-BANKRUPTCY-QIMONDA
FILES - Picture taken on January 27, 2009 shows a sign prohibiting access for pedestrians in front of the logo of memory chip maker Qimonda in Dresden. Qimonda declared bankruptcy on January 23 and an attempt by the German state of Saxony along with Infineon and Portugal, where a large Qimonda site is located, to rescue the company failed to come up with a solution. The European Union will not aid Qimonda, industry commissioner Guenter Verheugen told the German newspaper Saechsische Zeitung in comments published on February 3, 2009.
