GERMANY-EU-US-IT-BANKRUPTCY-QIMONDA-DEMO
Employees of memory chip maker Qimonda demonstrate for the preservation of their jobs on February 3, 2009 in Dresden. Qimonda declared bankruptcy on January 23 and an attempt by the German state of Saxony along with Infineon and Portugal, where a large Qimonda site is located, to rescue the company failed to come up with a solution. The European Union will not aid Qimonda, industry commissioner Guenter Verheugen told the German newspaper Saechsische Zeitung in comments published on February 3, 2009. Qimonda also announced today it will close their plant in Richmond, Virginia, USA, wher 1.500 people work. AFP PHOTO DDP/ NORBERT MILLAUER GERMANY OUT
