Perpignan's star All Black flyhalf Dan Carter arrives with his crutches to give a press conference, in Perpignan, southern France, on February 3, 2009. Carter announced today that he is to undergo surgery to repair his ruptured Achilles tendon. Carter, the 59-Test veteran and 2005 world player of the year, will miss the rest of the French season due to the injury suffered in the closing stages of Perpignan's 13-13 draw with Stade Francais at the weekend.
