ZIMBABWE-POLITICS-GOVERNMENT
New Zimbabawean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) delivers an address in Harare on February 11, 2009 after being sworn in by President Robert Mugabe at the State House. Tsvangirai vowed to rebuild Zimbabwe's shattered economy and end political violence, as he became prime minister in a unity government with long-time rival Mugabe. Tsvangirai spoke to more than 10,000 cheering supporters who filled a stadium and hung from trees and light towers, as he laid out ambitious priorities to turn around a country mired in economic and humanitarian crisis.
