GERMANY-PORTUGAL-IT-BANKRUPTCY-QIMONDA
Portraits of employees of bankrupt German memory chip maker Qimonda are fixed on a fence at the company's plant in Dresden, eastern Germany, on February 17, 2009. Qimonda said a week ago (February 10, 2009) it will slash production and have to find a buyer by the end of March 2009 or else be forced to shut down. Qimonda filed for insolvency on January 23 after an attempt to put together a rescue plan with parent company Infineon, the German state of Saxony and the government of Portugal, where another major Qimonda plant is based, fell through.
