Philippine President Gloria Arroyo pushed for speedy cash payments to 18,000 Filipino World War II veterans under the US government's stimulus package. Arroyo also thanked her US counterpart, Barack Obama, for the finance package passed by US lawmakers, which included a lump sum payment of 15,000 USD to Filipino veterans residing in the US, and 9,000 USD to those still in the Philippines.
