MEXIQUE-FRANCE-JUSTICE-ENL?VEMENT
Bernard Cassez, father of Florence Cassez, a Frenchwoman sentenced earlier to 60 years in jail for kidnapping in Mexico gives a press conference, on March 4, 2009 in Lille, northern France to react to the judgment in the appeal of her daughter. In her initial trial in 2006, Cassez was convicted on four counts of kidnapping and weapons possession and sentenced to 96 years behind bars, despite proclaiming she was unaware of the illicit activities of her Mexican former fiance, Israel Vallarta, believed to be the head of a criminal gang. Cassez's father Bernard Cassez urged French president Nicolas Sarkozy to ask Mexican President Felipe Calderon to grant his daughter amnesty. AFP PHOTO PHILIPPE HUGUEN
