A combo photo shows Japanese Osaka University student Shingo Toda making faces to demonstrate a prototype earphone-shaped device to operate electronic devices such as digital music player at his laboratory in Osaka, western Japan on March 10, 2009. The earphone shaped device, called the "Mimi Switch" or "Ear Switch", developed by Osaka University researcher Kazuhiro Taniguchi, is fitted with a set of infrared sensors that measures tiny movements inside the ear that result from different facial expressions, a wink, a smile or a raised eyebrow.
