AFRICA-POLAND-EUFOR-CHAD
Polish Soldiers patrol a village near Iriba, in eastern Chad on March 11, 2009 four days before the end of a European Force (EUFOR) mandate towards the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT), which expires on March 15. The government has asked Polish president, Lech Kaczynski, to retain troops in Chad after the end of the EU's UN-approved mandate, when the mission passes under the control of the world body. The Polish contingent is the second-largest after France's in the European Union's peacekeeping force in Chad, which also operates in Central Africa AFP PHOTO / PHILIPPE HUGUEN
