PALESTINIAN-DIPLOMACY-NORTH-SOUTH-AWARD
Queen Rania of Jordan arrives at the Portuguese parliament in Lisbon on March 16, 2009, before beeing awarded the 2008 edition of the North-South Prize. The North-South Prize is awarded to those who contribute to the defense and promotion of the human rights around the world. Portuguese Jorge Sampaio (unseen), United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilisations, was also awarded the Lisbon's North-South Award at the ceremony. Jordan's King Abdallah II said during a visit to Portugal today that the formation of a new government in Israel is no excuse to delay peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
