AUSTRALIA-ANIMAL-WHALES
Rescuers treat injuries amongst a pod of long-finned pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins before herding them back out to sea from Hamelin Bay, south of the city of Perth on March 24, 2009. Rescuers used trucks and cranes fitted with giant slings in a bid to transport 11 surviving whales from a mass beaching on Australia's west coast to a safe harbour for release. AFP PHOTO / Tony ASHBY
