(FILES) People walk on February 10, 2009 outside the New York Stock Exchange. Wall Street shares tumbled on March 30, 2009 on worries about the future of the ailing US auto industry after the government took a hard line on General Motors and Chrysler and warned some banks may need much more aid. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 199.92 points (2.57 percent) to 7,576.26 in opening trades. The White House toughened its stand Monday on new aid for ailing automakers, saying GM, the largest of the Detroit Big Three, needs a "more aggressive" restructuring plan and Chrysler must seal a deal with Fiat within 30 days.
