RUSSIA-KAZAKHSTAN-SPACE
Support staff carry U.S. billionaire space tourist Charles Simonyi after he landed in the Kazakh steppe some 136 km (84.5 miles) north-east of the town of Dzhezkazgan returning from the International Space Station (ISS) in a Russian Souyz TMA-13 space capsule on April 8, 2009. The capsule carrying a Russian-American crew, safely returned to Earth along with the U.S. billionaire whose the second paid voyage to the international space station ended with a landing on the Kazakh steppe. Russia's space tourism partnership with US company Space Adventures, which also organised Simonyi's debut trio in April 2007, has provided a welcome boost to funding for its space programme since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
