US-LIFESTLYE-CULTURE-CANE-FU
Senior instructor Karen Hubbard (L) warms up senior citizens with their canes walking past Willie Rubel Jr. (R) during a demonstration by R.S. Mitchell, owner of Mitchell's Martial Arts in Salisbury, Maryland, during a lesson in "Cane-Fu", an acient from of self-defense on April 10, 2009 at a senior citizen home in Salisbury, Maryland. Mitchell and his team volunteer their time with seniors teaching the basics of "Cane-Fu", a non-deadly self-defense technique that uses the crook (the curved part of the cane) to help seniors fend-off attackers who only see a cane as a sign of weakness, but if used properly turns into a impressive weapon and builds self-confidence for seniors.
