FRANCE-SPAIN-BASQUES-ETA
One of three members of the Basque separatist group ETA, arrested on April 18, 2009 in Montauriol, southern France, leaves hidden in a police car on April 22, 2009 in Montpellier southern France, to be transfered to Paris anti-terrorist police department and in front of a special court. Considered a terrorist organisation by the European Union and the United States, ETA is blamed for the deaths of 825 people in its 40-year campaign of bombings and shootings to carve a Basque homeland out of parts of northern Spain and southwestern France.
