UAE-WOMAD-KURDISH-KAMKARS
Spectators sit on the sand on Abu Dhabi's Gulf coast as they listen to the music of the Kamkars, a Kurdish Iranian traditional music band, which performed late April 24, 2009 on the second night of the WOMAD world music festival. Several Arab, African and foreign performers are taking part in the three-day World of Music and Dance festival. The Kamkars Music Band was primarily established in 1965, in the Kurdish city of Sanandaj in northwestern Iran, as a family band of seven brothers and one sister, headed by violinist Hassan Kamkar.
