FRANCE-MIDEAST-DIPLOMACY
People hold a banner which reads : "Gaza : we don't forget you" referring to the victims of Israel's three-week Gaza offensive, as they demonstrate on May 5, 2009, in Paris close to the France Foreign Affairs ministry during a meeting of Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman with his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner. Lieberman, who has been attacked by critics over his views on Israel's Arab citizens, is on a five-day tour of Europe to represent the new Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel was responsible for six serious incidents during its three-week Gaza offensive which caused deaths, injuries or damage, a UN report said on May 5, 2009. The war, which ended with Israel and Hamas declaring ceasefires on January 18, killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis and left large swathes of the impoverished territory in ruins. - AFP PHOTO OLIVIER LABAN-MATTEI
