Indian election officials are accompanied by security personnel as they carry electronic voting machines (EVM) to a counting centre for parliamentary elections in Agartala on May 16, 2009. Early vote counting in India's general election saw the alliance led by the ruling Congress party well ahead of its main opposition rival, with a predicted lead of around 70 seats. With counting underway in 400 of the parliament's 543 directly elected seats, the Congress grouping was leading in 190 seats, according to the Election Commission website. The main opposition bloc headed by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had the edge in 120 seats. No results have yet been confirmed. AFP PHOTO/STR
