AUSTRALIA-EXHIBITION-STAR WARS
Rebecca Melius (3/L) from the Museum of Science in Boston places Princess Leia's dress next to R2-D2 and 3-CPO - all used during the filming of Star Wars - securely in a display at Melbourne's Scienceworks at a new exhibition called 'Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination', on May 19, 2009. It is the first exhibition to showcase costumes and props from all six Star Wars movies while exploring cutting-edge research and modern technologies that could one day make the fantasy world of Star Wars a reality. The exhibition explores the fantasy technologies depicted in the Star Wars movies, the real science behind them, and the latest research that may someday lead to remarkable real-world equivalents. Visitors will encounter over 80 artefacts, including props, costumes and models from all six Star Wars films and examples of comparable real-world technologies. Authentic costumes and props from the entire Star Wars aga, such as Princess Leia?s famous white dress, Darth Vader?s menacing black armour, a full-sized R2-D2, a stormtrooper uniform and Luke Skywalker?s landspeeder.
