MIDEAST-ISRAEL-PALESTINIAN-SETTLEMENT
A Jewish settler walks outside a cave transfered into a wildcat outpost near the settlement of Kedumim on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Nablus on May 26, 2009. A group of Jewish settlers believe that they will not be evacuated from the cave since it is not a built outpost but an already existing one. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to tear down settlement outposts in the occupied West Bank in return for US backing on its stance on arch-foe Iran, local media reported. Under the 2003 international "roadmap" peace plan, Israel committed to dismantling outposts erected since March 2001 and a government commission later determined there were 26 such structures in the West Bank. Watchdog groups say the actual number of such outposts is more than 50. AFP PHOTO/JACK GUEZ
