GERMANY-US-CANADA-AUTO-TAKEOVER-GM-OPEL-MAGNA

Austrian-Canadian businessman Frank Stronach, founder of Canadian car parts maker Magna, gets out of his car as he arrives on May 27, 2009 at the Chancellery in Berlin for talks on the future of car maker Opel. The German government said it is unlikely it will name a single preferred investor for troubled car maker Opel, a subsidiary of US auto giant General Motors, at the key meeting. Three candidates have submitted bids for Opel -- the Italian car maker Fiat, the Canadian auto parts company Magna, backed by Russian interests, and the holding group RHJ International.
