French Agriculture Minister and top candidate ont the UMP right-wing ruling party's list in the Ile-de-France region (Paris' district) for the European elections, Michel Barnier (C) and other candidates on the UMP's list in the region, French Justice minister Rachida Dati (3R), former journalist and European MP Jean-Marie Cavada (2R), Marielle Gallo (formelly close to leftist political leader Jean-Pierre Chevenement) (2L), Garennes-Colombes' mayor Philippe Juvin (L) sing the French National anthem at the end of a meeting with UMP's elected members on May 27, 2009 in Levallois-Perret, near Paris, ahead of the European parliamentary elections to be held on June 7, in France. Low attendance rates and transparency, high expense claims and running costs; European parliamentarians are battling a negative image ahead of EU elections which will be held June 4 to 7 across the 27-nation bloc.
