A British Muslim lawmaker who resigned in a row over housing payments rejoined the government Tuesday June 9, 2009 less than a month later, after being cleared by a watchdog. Shahid Malik was made junior communities minister in Prime Minister Gordon Brown's latest reshuffle. He quit his justice portfolio last month when The Daily Telegraph reported he claimed thousands of pounds from public funds for a second home while paying below-market rent for his constituency home.
