An Israeli medic wheels a US left-wing activist into a hospital after he was injured in a clash with Israeli police during a protest against the construction of Jewish settlements in the West Bank outside the Bar Ilan university in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a keynote address in which he laid out his peace policy on June 14, 2009. Netanyahu endorsed for the first time the creation of a Palestinian state after weeks of pressure from Washington, but said it must be demilitarised. He also ruled out a complete halt to settlement activity -- which the Palestinians have said is a condition for relaunching negotiations -- and said Palestinian refugees would not be resettled inside Israel's borders.
