Israeli police push US and Israeli left-wing activists as they try to stop a protest against the construction of settlements in the West Bank outside the Bar Ilan university in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a keynote address on June 14, 2009. Netanyahu endorsed for the first time the creation of a Palestinian state after weeks of pressure from Washington, but said it must be demilitarised.
