CHINA-ENVIRONMENT-ENERGY
A farmer walks his cow past village housing near a wind power plant in Zhangbei, northwest of Beijing near Inner Mongolia on June 16, 2009, in northern China's Hebei province. China is the world's second-largest energy consumer and according to state media recently, with installed total capacity of 12 million kilowatts, China has become the world's fourth largest country in wind power-installed capacity. Wind power has become a main force in China's new energy development cause with more than 200 wind power plants built as of 2008, and the two northern provinces of Hebei and Inner Mongolia, given their geographic location, have exploited wind energy earlier than other regions in the country.
