OLY-2016-IOC-CHICAGO
Chicago 2016 bid Chairman and CEO Patrick Ryan (C) and Chicago 2016 Director of Sport Doug Arnot (2nd R) speak to journalists on June 17, 2009 after the bid presentation before International Olympic Comittee (IOC) members at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The IOC will choose on October 2, 2009 the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympics among Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. Chicago, bidding to become the first US city since Atlanta in 1996 to host the Summer Games, is up against Madrid, Rio de Janeiro -- who would be the first hosts from South America -- and Tokyo, the only city of the four to have previously hosted the Games.
