GREECE-TURKEY-IMMIGRATION
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY HELENE COLLIOPOULOU A group of immigrants wait in line on May 31, 2009 outside a police station on the small Greek Aegean Sea island of Agathonissi. Over 1,200 immigrants have landed since January on the shores of the island, which lies a short distance from the Turkish coast and has a mere 150 inhabitants. The island's rudimentary accommodation facilities are stretched to capacity and many migrants sleep outdoors, begging for food on the streets, local authorities say. Greece has been struggling to cope with an immigration influx from Asia and Africa that has rapidly grown in recent years. AFP PHOTO / ARISris Messinis
