BRITAIN-FRANCE-ECONOMY-INDUSTRY-LABOR-STRIK
Workers from the neighboring Conoco Phillips refinery vote to stop work in support of their colleagues from the Total refinery in North Killingholme, near Grimsby in northern England, on June 22 2009. Sacked workers, who have been offered new contracts, refused to reapply for their jobs in solidarity for those workers who had not been made a new offer. A mass protest is planned for June 23 with stoppages expected at many refineries and power plants across Britain. Almost 900 workers were sacked from the Total Lindsey terminal in Lincolnshire on June 18. AFP PHOTO / PAUL ELLIS
