Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been reelected as President with 65 per cent of the vote, sparking accusations and allegations of fraud from his main rival, Mousavi, as Tehran police banned public gatherings. Ahmadinejad's chief challenger, former prime minister Mousavi, had declared himself winner of the election shortly after polling closed, and later claimed there had been large-scale irregularities.
