Palestinian gunmen exchanged fire on July 28 with an Israeli force that crossed into the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, the Palestinians said while an Israeli army spokesman said that an army force was operating along Gaza's heavily fortified fence and that Gaza militants had fired a mortar shell towards the force that landed inside the Palestinian territory.
