Lawyer Jon Skjorshammer (R), who is representing seven Norwegian towns that have sued US banking giant Citigroup, addresses a press conference in Oslo on August 11, 2009. Seven Norwegian towns, some clustered around the Arctic Circle, have sued US banking giant Citigroup for more than 200 million dollars of losses plus damages linked to the sub-prime mortgage crisis, their lawyer said. The lawsuit was filed in a New York court after the provincial outposts, the largest of which has a population of just 33,000, were brought to the brink of bankruptcy by what they claim was misleading selling of complex and high-risk mortgage-backed investments.
